Press Release:

"Dance For Rain", the new release from Elizabeth White,
marks a triumph over personal tragedy.

After a five-year wait, the sophomore release from singer/songwriter Elizabeth White is finally here! In what can only be classified as a triumph over tragedy, White overcame a severe back injury that threatened to permanently sideline her. Dance For Rain is an album that is worth the wait.

"I actually recorded the first album because of the back injury, hoping this might be a better way to make a living with a back that was progressively getting worse." But even as she was quickly building a worldwide following through the Internet, she was able to do less and less. "It was really frustrating. Here I had a good start going, building up the momentum, getting great reviews and great press, building a fan base worldwide, and I couldn't keep it going. After a few years, it felt like it was all I could do to just tread water, let alone release and promote anything new. I often wondered if this day would ever come. But stubbornness can be a good thing sometimes, and I just refused to give up on finding a solution."

As much as White wants people to hear and enjoy the new music, she also wants to share her story of recovery in hopes that others might also find relief from chronic pain. "I spent thousands of dollars on doctors and therapists and gyms. They all gave me different routines and exercises, but none of it helped relieve the pain. It was actually getting worse. At one point I was in bed for a year and a half. I finally heard about this guy who has a clinic in San Diego, and when I heard his approach to dealing with pain and injuries I was intrigued. I bought his book, and all I can say is it's worked miracles. It's also helped with other problems I had developed like knee and shoulder problems. I'm still working on my recovery, but after two years of doing these exercises I feel like I have my life back. So I want to recommend to everyone, even those who are healthy because it can show you how to stay healthy and avoid injury, that you get a copy of "Pain Free" by Pete Egoscue. If I can help just one other person find relief and find their life again, I would be so happy. And the exciting thing for me was, of course, getting back into the studio and finally recording all these new songs!"

It seems appropriate then that the new album is titled Dance For Rain and is, in many ways, about letting go, moving on, taking risks, and finding hope where there seems to be none. "A lot of what was going on in my life during those years was about letting go of things in my life that I thought would last, the pain of those things dying when I didn't want to lose them, and finding a way to survive, to come back to life. It was about taking huge risks and finding love and a new life just as I thought life was over. Dance For Rain then became the obvious song to use as the title track because it really encompasses the journey." There are six new original songs brilliantly produced with a full band, and one beautiful cover song recorded solo acoustic and live in the studio.

One-Sheet:
Elizabeth White writes passionate, soulful songs and delivers them with driving rhythms and silky smooth vocals. Often compared to early Indigo Girls, she writes songs that are mature and universal in appeal, and wraps them in rootsy rock rhythms. The combination creates a sound that can cut to the heart of the matter and the soul of the listener. She began playing guitar and writing songs at a very early age, and went on to experiment with other instruments, styles, and performance opportunities. But all those roads led her back to the way she best expressed her emotions - through her guitar, her voice, and her fearless bearing of heart and soul. Through those tools she will pull you in and make you feel. Her debut CD, "the edges of my heart", was released to nothing but rave reviews and a quickly growing audience.

Reviews from the new CD - "Dance For Rain":
"Elizabeth has a knack for cutting through all the facades and pretences to say things in ways we've all felt before. From the inspiring instrumental arrangements to her own sweet voice and the unpretentious lyrics, all seven tunes are pretty straightforward and leave few, if any, questions. Perhaps the best tune on the CD is "Two Feet Away." This is one of those really simply written tunes that stop you dead in your tracks. It's a love song with a beautiful melody, vocals, and instrumentation to make you melt." (Indie-Music.com)

I’ve always been drawn to the artist who is all about “DYI;” translation: “Do It Yourself.” If you write your own music and lyrics, with the added bonus of creating your own music label, I want to hear you. And so I came across Elizabeth on an e-mail mailing list and she sent me her music. I was immediately impressed and was reminded of many of the female musicians who I have come to love throughout the years, who like White, create within themselves and put their music out there and in the process gain legions of fans through their tireless self-promotion. I’m reminded mostly of the earlier days of the Indigo Girls’ career, when with only their guitars and voices, introduced themselves to the music world quietly; yet for those fans who did know them it was considered their own little secret. With the expression of herself lyrically — which I can only tell you is personal and downright beautiful — White is one of those stunningly gifted musicians who do their thing timidly all the while creating quite a following. Elizabeth White has her own story of struggle and love to tell and she tells it stunningly. (FACE Magazine)

"White’s 2003 release is a maturation in every way, garnering masterful orchestration and the genius of Jack Saunders and Rick Richards. From the opening cut you’re comfortable, and the inviting nature of the disc lets you listen for a long time without getting 'listener fatigue'. Hear for yourself the passion and emotion in Elizabeth White’s music." (MyTexasMusic.com)
